OREANDA-NEWS  In April, the German metallurgical and electrical engineering sector lost more than 15,000 jobs, the highest figure since the COVID—19 pandemic, the Gesamtmetall industry association reported.

"According to the Federal Statistical Bureau, in April 2026, 3.746 million people were employed in the metallurgical and electrical industries. This is 2.7 percent, or 102,600 fewer people than in the same month last year. Compared to March 2026, seasonally adjusted, 15,600 jobs were lost, which is the largest drop since July 2020," the press release says.
