OREANDA-NEWS  In Dagestan, 522 people, including 165 children, remain in 14 temporary accommodation facilities due to the effects of heavy rains and floods, the Federal Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

"In the Republic of Dagestan and the Chechen Republic, all residential buildings and household plots have been freed from water. In Dagestan, the restoration of energy supply continues in one locality, gas supply and cold water supply in four," the ministry added.

Rescuers continue to pump water from flooded households, disinfect social facilities, residential buildings and household plots.

Heavy rains on March 28 and April 4-5 led to widespread flooding in Dagestan. The authorities of the republic have introduced an emergency regime in Makhachkala, Khasavyurt, Buinaksk, Dagestan Lights, Kaspiysk, as well as in Derbent, Karabudakhkentsky, Khasavyurt, Gumbetovsky, Babayurt, Novolaksky and Kaitagsky districts. Later, a federal emergency regime was introduced in the region.

According to the latest data, 9,825 residential buildings were flooded in the republic. 7,126 residential buildings were found damaged. Six people were killed.
