OREANDA-NEWS  The Moscow Department of Media and Advertising has banned the use of QR codes on billboards amid hacker attacks. This is reported by RBC with reference to a fax sent by the advertising department.

The department noted that QR codes that work as a link to Internet resources that publish "various and changeable content" may contain information that violates the law "On Advertising". This may be especially relevant in the context of hacker attacks and break-ins, the department added.

"Violation of advertising legislation by individuals or legal entities entails administrative responsibility," the department recalled.

Earlier, experts dealing with network security issues at Covance described the danger of a hacker attack through QR codes. According to experts, such types of attacks are difficult to identify.
