OREANDA-NEWS  The FSB has charged the scientist-geodesist Valery Kichin with high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), writes TASS with reference to law enforcement agencies. He was transferred from Birobidzhan (Jewish Autonomous Region, EAO) to the Lefortovo Moscow pre-trial detention center. The court file indicates that the investigation requested an extension of his arrest.

The press service of the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow informed RBC that the arrest of Valery Kochkin, accused of committing a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code, was extended for three months, until March 12, 2023.

"Beware, the news" calls Kachin a former employee of the Birobidzhan City Hall (in 2017, PrimaMedia mentioned him as the chief expert of the Property relations and advertising department at the city hall) and an employee of the Bastak Nature Reserve. The latter's website states that a person with the same full name (Valery Sergeyevich Kachin) is a junior researcher at the reserve. In 2014, he graduated from the Amur State University. Sholom Aleichem majoring in Information Systems and Technologies. Kachin's scientific specialization, the website says, is geoinformation systems.

At the end of June, in the case of treason, the FSB detained a Novosibirsk scientist, head of the laboratory of quantum Optical Technologies of the Faculty of Physics Dmitry Kolker. He was charged with providing China with information representing a state secret, the scientist's son told the Taiga portal.info". Kolker had cancer and died a few days after his arrest.

In August, the head of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics named after S.A. Khristianovich of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Shiplyuk, was detained in the case of treason. Prior to that, Anatoly Maslov, the chief researcher of the Institute, was arrested in a similar case. A TASS source indicated that he was suspected of providing hypersonic data containing state secrets. Both Shiplyuk and Maslov were engaged in aerogasodynamics.
