OREANDA-NEWS  A bill has been submitted to the State Duma to extend the operation of landfills built before 2019 without full documentation until 2028. This is reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

There are no new landfills for household waste disposal in 30 regions of Russia, therefore, it is proposed to make it possible to operate old landfills with technical equipment to reduce the volume of garbage.

According to current legislation, landfills without documentation can operate until January 1, 2026. The Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region proposes to extend the deadline due to capacity shortages in a number of regions and difficulties with the construction of new facilities, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas. In some central regions, the remaining landfill capacity is close to exhaustion, and restrictions on utility bills are slowing down the development of new infrastructure.
