Insurers again complained about the unprofitability of CTP

OREANDA-NEWS Insurance companies estimate that payments to motorists injured in accidents, business expenses and contributions to the compensation fund amounted to 104.3% in four months, meaning insurers paid more than they collected. The volume of payments increased by 8.6%, to 119,197 rubles, while the average cost of avtograzhdanki was 7,557 rubles.
"The reform of the individualization of CTP tariffs increases equity and stimulates responsible driving. It is thanks to her that insurers manage to restrain tariffs in conditions of an increased level of payments. However, it is also necessary to strengthen measures to combat fraud and unfair practices, which will ensure a reduction in the level of payments, taking into account business expenses, below 100% and make the market more stable and transparent," said Evgeny Ufimtsev, head of the RSA.
He explained that the current situation is influenced by several factors at once: the general economic situation, the rise in prices of spare parts and services, insufficient control over the execution of contracts by drivers, the growth of insurance fraud and "the uncertainty of the position of courts on unlimited payments."
According to experts, in order to "restore the balance" it may be necessary not only to launch a CTP check using traffic cameras and strengthen counteraction to crooks, but also to review insurance tariffs.
