OREANDA-NEWS  The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed that the Israeli military opened fire on a motorcade of foreign diplomats. This became known from the statement of the IDF press service, published on the Telegram channel.

"According to the initial investigation, the delegation deviated from the approved route and entered an area where it was not allowed to be. IDF soldiers operating in the area fired warning shots to distance them. There were no reports of injuries or damage," the statement said.

The IDF noted that on May 21, a coordinated entry of a diplomatic delegation to Jenin in the West Bank of the Jordan River took place. The Israeli military noted that, as part of the coordination, the members of the delegation were provided with an approved route, which they had to follow, since this area is a zone of active hostilities.

Earlier it became known that the IDF soldiers opened warning fire at the sight of a delegation of diplomats. It is noted that the delegation included diplomats from Russia and more than two dozen other countries.
