OREANDA-NEWS Women in Russia are more likely than men to approve housing loan applications. Dmitry Rakuta, a mortgage broker, shared his observations, writes aif.ru .

The expert explained that women have a higher average life expectancy, and they are also more disciplined in making payments. "It is usually more profitable for a woman to insure her life or property when lending money — for them the rate is often lower than the offers for men. Therefore, if there is a question of who to apply for a loan for, it is better to submit documents on behalf of a woman," Rakuta advised.

However, gender is not the only important factor when approving a loan. It is also difficult for the self-employed, sole proprietors, and business owners to obtain it. Banks believe that such borrowers, in the presence of difficulties, will begin to invest money not in fulfilling loan obligations, but in saving their business.

"A self-employed employee who has a salary project in a lending bank is much more reliable. Therefore, paradoxical situations often arise when a loan is approved to the owner of a company on less favorable terms than for his own employee," the specialist said.

Previously, the most problematic apartments for sale in Moscow were named. One of such difficult cases is housing with refuseniks during privatization. If one of the former tenants renounced his share in favor of another family member, he retains the right to lifelong residence. As a result, the new owner may unexpectedly receive a "neighbor" who cannot be evicted even through the courts, experts warned.
