OREANDA-NEWS  Next year in Chechnya is declared the Year of the Chechen language, the corresponding decree signed by the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov is published on the regional website of the head and government.

"In order to preserve, develop and popularize the Chechen language, culture and traditions of the Chechen people, I decree: to declare 2023 the Year of the Chechen Language in the Chechen Republic," the decree says. It is reported that within the framework of the Year of the Chechen Language, an organizing committee will be formed, which needs to develop a plan for the preparation and organization of events within a month.

The Chechen authorities pay close attention to the preservation and popularization of the native language: since 2007, the Chechen Language Day has been celebrated in the region, there is a newspaper "Daimohk", which is published only in the Chechen language and celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2023. In addition, the republic has an expert council for the preservation and development of the Chechen language under the head of Chechnya and a terminological commission. Kadyrov has repeatedly spoken about the importance of speaking the Chechen language, for example, at one of the last meetings in the government, he called it a tragedy that the Chechen language is included in the group of endangered languages.
