OREANDA-NEWS Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sent a telegram to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and congratulated him and the entire American people on the country's Independence Day, which takes place on July 4. The text of the greeting is published on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"Dear Secretary of State, I ask you to convey my sincere congratulations to the American people on the occasion of Independence Day, as well as to express Russia's support for their aspirations for unity and the realization of the traditional American dream (...) I wish you to walk the path of peace so that the precepts of the Declaration of Independence of the United States on the human right to life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness remain unshakable," the message of greetings reads.

Lavrov expressed the hope that Russian-American relations would flourish and gain positive stability based on mutual respect between the two countries. The diplomat also stressed that it is necessary to take into account each other's national interests, which are predetermined by history, geography and "realities on earth."

On June 12, Rubio congratulated the Russians on Russia Day. He pointed out that the United States remains committed to supporting the Russian people in their quest for a brighter future, and expressed readiness for constructive cooperation with the Russian Federation to achieve lasting peace between Moscow and Kiev.
