OREANDA-NEWS Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the issue of non-issuance of visas to Russian representatives to work at the UN at a meeting in New York, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov said.

Earlier, Alimov was not granted a visa to travel to events organized by the UN General Assembly. The American side has provided absolutely no official or unofficial explanations for the reasons for the visa refusal.

"The issue (of visa refusal to Russian representatives - ed.) was discussed on a bilateral basis. Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, as you know, began his program of stay in New York with a meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where this issue was also discussed," Alimov said during a briefing at the International Multimedia Press Center of the Russia Today Media Group.
