OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he will personally represent Russia at the BRICS summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), a TASS correspondent reports.

The plane of the head of Russian diplomacy, as during his January visit to Pretoria, landed at the South African Air Force base Waterkloof.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will take a full-scale part in the summit via video conferencing. Among other things, the Russian leader will inform its participants about the priorities of the Russian presidency in the association in 2024.

The BRICS Summit will be held in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24 and will be the largest meeting of heads of state and government of the Global South in recent years. The invited guests included the leaders of 54 African countries. According to the Kremlin's press service, the final agreements will be recorded in the Johannesburg Declaration of the XV BRICS Summit.
