OREANDA-NEWS Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with the Chairman of the African Union, President of the Comoros Azali Assoumani, the issues of holding the second Russia—Africa summit.  Lavrov discussed with the head of the African Union the holding of the Russia—Africa summit.

It is noted that the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation between Russia and the organization, confirmed their focus on the development of a constructive and partnership dialogue.

"Practical issues of holding the next Russia—Africa summit in St. Petersburg in July of this year have been considered," the message says.

Earlier, Russian Leader Vladimir Putin said that Russia has always attached special importance to strengthening friendly relations with partners from Africa.

Putin also stressed that the Russia—Africa summit in July will define new tasks for expanding cooperation.
