OREANDA-NEWS In order to talk about the failure of the Anchorage agreements, it is necessary to find out who exactly is to blame for it. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after the SCO Ministerial Council meeting, RIA Novosti reports.

"As for the failure of the Anchorage agreements, we probably need to understand who exactly failed," the head of the foreign ministry told reporters.

Lavrov also noted that Anchorage resulted in agreed and compromise positions. According to him, Washington assured the Russian side that President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky would take the necessary steps for a peaceful settlement of the conflict, but "it was not possible to do this."

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed the opinion that the Anchorage proposals "turned into a failure." He noted that a peace agreement could not be concluded due to Kiev's disagreement.
