OREANDA-NEWS  The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow supports any actions aimed at normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. His words are quoted by Interfax.

At a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Lavrov noted that regional security remains one of the most pressing issues. "And in our relations, and not only bilaterally, but also multilaterally," he said.

The Foreign Minister recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that he welcomes any efforts that can stabilize the situation and create conditions for countries to cooperate on the basis of mutual respect and benefit in the interests of their peoples.

Lavrov also added that the Azerbaijani-Russian trade turnover is reaching record levels. "And this is not the limit, because, as you discussed with President Putin, there are several megaprojects in development that will have not only a bilateral, but also a regional and even somewhere global character," the Russian representative addressed Aliyev.

Earlier, Sergey Lavrov said that the "golden billion" will not affect the external conditions of Russia's development. The Minister promised that in the future the Russian Federation will create conditions for the development of the country itself, not guided by the opinion of international partners.
