OREANDA-NEWS  The mutual trade turnover between Russia and Cuba, despite unfavorable external conditions, has increased nine-fold in the first four months of this year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said, expressing confidence that this dynamic will continue.

"Cuba is our important partner in Latin America, our cooperation is based on strong traditions of friendship, solidarity, mutual respect and mutual trust. Together we are resisting unprecedented sanctions pressure from unfriendly states," Mishustin said at a meeting with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz in Sochi. The governments of the two countries, according to the agreements reached at the level of the presidents, are working on the development of trade and economic cooperation in various sectors.

"Despite the unfavorable external environment, last year the mutual trade turnover amounted to almost 60 billion Russian rubles, or more than 20 billion Cuban pesos. This year, the positive dynamics remains, following the results of January-April, the volume of trade increased nine times compared to the same period in 2022. I am sure that it will continue to grow," the Russian prime minister said.
