OREANDA-NEWS Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed the government to keep prices of vital and essential medicines under control.
On Thursday, at a government meeting, the issue of the state of competition in Russia for 2025 was considered. According to Mishustin, it is not only about increasing the availability of goods and services for people and businesses, but also about controlling natural monopolies to prevent cartel agreements, and supporting bona fide entrepreneurs.
"Prices for vital and essential medicines are under control. The quality of medical care and the health of millions of our citizens depend on their assortment in hospitals, clinics, pharmacies. The measures taken last year have reduced the cost of more than 700 such drugs. We need to continue this work," he said.
Mishustin also recalled that special attention is paid to the transparency of food pricing. "In order to prevent unjustified overestimation of their value and to identify unnecessary intermediaries, the entire chain was monitored – from manufacturers and suppliers to retail chains where these goods are sold," the prime minister explained.
