OREANDA-NEWS  Medical organizations have registered more than 2.5 thousand complaints from residents of the Moscow region about cases of tick sucking, these figures do not exceed the average long-term level, the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Moscow region reported.

"As of May 23, 2024, medical organizations in the Moscow region registered more than 2.5 thousand requests for medical help regarding cases of tick suction, which does not exceed the average annual level," the department noted. At the same time, 34 cases of Lyme disease were registered over the past period of 2024, which is 13% higher than the same period in 2023, when 30 cases were registered.

There have been no cases of tick-borne viral encephalitis in the Moscow region.

"Laboratory studies of 295 ticks were conducted, pathogens of ixodic tick-borne borreliosis were detected in 18.9% of cases, human granulocytic anaplasmosis in 2.4%, the causative agent of tick-borne viral encephalitis was not detected," the Rospotrebnadzor added.
