OREANDA-NEWS Forest firefighters are extinguishing 78 fires on a total area of 86.6 thousand hectares in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the regional forest fire center reported on Tuesday.
The foci are located in the Evenki, Turukhansk, Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets and Yenisei districts.
There is no threat to human settlements.
According to the forest fire center, over the past day, specialists eliminated 16 forest fires in the north of the region on an area of 10.8 thousand hectares. Another 19 were localized, stopping the spread of fire on an area of 4.6 thousand hectares. All fires were caused by dry thunderstorms.
After short-term precipitation, hot, windy weather with high thunderstorm activity was established in the north of the region, which contributes to the emergence of new foci.
More than 1.2 thousand people work at the edges. The Operational Headquarters constantly conducts the relocation and rotation of groups in order to flexibly respond to changes in the situation and effectively allocate resources. 19 aircraft, as well as water transport, are involved in air patrol and delivery of forces. Together with the staff of the regional forest fire center, federal aviation security forces, teams from other regions are involved in the liquidation, and forest users are helping.
The work is complicated by the difficult terrain, blockages, clutter and a large amount of dead wood in areas damaged after the invasion of the Siberian silkworm. Using chainsaws, shovels, and hoe axes, forest firefighters prepare fire lanes to stop the fire.
In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, an emergency regime in forests has been in effect since June 10. Their visits are limited, it is forbidden to build bonfires, burn garbage and dry grass, and carry out fire-hazardous work. Administrative or criminal liability is possible for violations.
