OREANDA-NEWS Anton Masyakin, Moscow's chief narcologist, told TASS that there is a decrease in interest in alcohol as a means of relaxation among the capital's youth. This is due to the active promotion of a healthy lifestyle and a variety of alternative forms of leisure, such as sports and cultural events, he explained.

"Moscow is one of the leaders in reducing this problem. This is the result of comprehensive prevention, which includes both prohibitions and changing fashion trends. Young people now prefer to play sports, which is evident from their activity on social networks and the presence of sports grounds throughout the city," the specialist noted.

Masyakin also stressed that Moscow, along with the North Caucasus, demonstrates the lowest levels of alcohol consumption in the country.
