OREANDA-NEWS NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte commented on the supply of F-35 fighter jets and Patriot air defense systems with an anecdote about Lada and refrigerator. This is reported by Clash Report on its page on the social network X.
Rutte stressed that there is a high demand for the products of defense companies, both European and American, so it is necessary to increase the pace of production.
Speaking about the purchases of F-35 and Patriot systems by European countries, the NATO Secretary General said that sometimes "he remembers the old Russian joke about Lada and refrigerator," which is relevant in this context.
"The Lada seller says that the car will be delivered in ten years. [Buyer's] reaction — morning or afternoon? What's the difference? Well, they'll bring a refrigerator in the afternoon," Rutte joked.
Earlier, Rutte said that shooting down Russian planes in the skies of NATO would be a sign of weakness. According to him, a proportional response to such actions would be to gently remove objects from the alliance's airspace.
