OREANDA-NEWS During the day, Russian troops attacked 11 brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region. These and other details about the situation in the region were reported to journalists by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The fighting took place in the areas of the settlements of Malaya Loknya, Novaya Sorochina, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, Nikolaevo-Darino, Viktorovka, Guevo, Goncharovka, Kositsa, Kubatkin, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Makhnovka, Nikolaevka, Sverdlikovo and Pogrebki.

The servicemen also managed to repel five counterattacks by enemy troops. During the day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 230 fighters, three tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, four self-propelled artillery installations, as well as electronic warfare and counter-battery warfare stations.

Since the invasion of the Kursk region, according to the defense Ministry, Ukrainian troops have lost more than 51,430 soldiers.

Earlier, military correspondent Yuri Kotenok said that the Russian Armed Forces had managed to break into the Sumy region bordering Kursk. According to him, the advance, if successful, will make it possible to surround the AFU group, which is fighting in the Russian region.
