OREANDA-NEWS Africa can receive Russian grain free of charge. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, writes TASS.
According to him, everything depends on what the president does in this matter. If an appropriate decision is made, the government intends to implement it.
In 2024, six African countries received Russian wheat free of charge. The total volume of humanitarian aid amounted to 200 thousand tons of grain. The first ship left on November 7, 2023, and the last arrived in Somalia at the end of January. 25,000 tons of grain were shipped to Mali, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe and Eritrea, and 50,000 tons each to Somalia and the Central African Republic (CAR).
According to Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut, domestic wheat accounts for 20 percent of the global market, and most of this volume goes to countries in Africa and the Middle East.
