OREANDA-NEWS The European Union (EU) should respond to the possible imposition of duties by US President Donald Trump in a mirror manner. The potential EU response was revealed by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the Anadolu agency reports.

According to him, the United States is still "our friend," and European countries should refrain from aggression and "unnecessary gestures" as a response. However, Tusk added, Europe should "respect itself" and respond appropriately to the imposition of tariffs.

"If the Washington administration considers that for some time, for some reason, some kind of customs barriers with the European Union are needed, then the European Union should respond in a similar way. There is no way out," the politician said.

Earlier, Tusk called on the EU to demonstrate strength in relations with the United States. He clarified that the prospect of Washington imposing duties on imports of goods from the European Union is a total misunderstanding.
