OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he hopes to meet with the new president of Iran. The Russian head of state mentioned this during a meeting with the heads of leading international news agencies within the framework of the SPIEF, RIA Novosti writes.

"We are waiting for the Iranian presidential elections to be held. I hope to meet with the new president of Iran at the venues of international events — both the SCO and the BRICS," the head of the Russian Federation noted.

Putin expressed confidence that Russia and Iran will be able to find a common language. Both countries will work on the implementation of all the plans "that were outlined by the deceased President of the Republic of Armenia," the head of the Russian state concluded.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin called the deceased Iranian leader Ebrahim Raisi a reliable partner.

On May 19, the helicopter carrying Raisi crashed. In addition to Iranian President and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati and Friday Imam of Tabriz Mohammad Ali Ale Hashem were on board. As a result of the accident, none of the passengers of the aircraft survived.
