OREANDA-NEWS  There is no great value in Moldova's membership in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This assessment of the republic's role in unification was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is broadcasting the program "Results of the year with Vladimir Putin" on VKontakte.

"The presence of this country in the CIS has no great value," he said. At the same time, the union of countries is ready for joint activities and does not refuse anyone, Putin stressed. The Russian president also called Moldova's choice unwillingness to work within the CIS.

Earlier, the head of Moldova, Maya Sandu, said that partnership with the CIS is unprofitable for the citizens of the republic. According to her, the government analyzed relations within the framework of agreements with the commonwealth. As a result, it was possible to collect enough evidence to conclude that there was no benefit for Moldovans, she clarified.

Later, Sandu noted that joining the European Union (EU) is vital for Moldova. The politician called one of the immediate goals the fastest possible initiation of negotiations on the republic's membership in the EU.
