OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian national team that won the Open International Astronomical Olympiad, noting that the Olympiad participants confirmed the continuity of the best traditions of domestic education, the corresponding telegram was published on the Kremlin's website.

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced in his Telegram channel that Dmitry Timofeev from Moscow became the absolute winner of the II Open International Astronomical Olympiad, and Egor Potapov, Kirill Roshchin, Dmitry Sankovsky, Svyatoslav Suglobov and Konstantin Telelyukhin also took the first place on the podium.

"I am sincerely glad that the Russian national team has once again become the triumphant winner of these prestigious competitions, confidently won six out of six possible medals of the highest standard. In an honest and intense struggle, you have demonstrated deep, thorough knowledge, excellent training and team cohesion. They have convincingly confirmed the continuity of the best traditions of Russian education," the congratulation reads.

The Russian leader also expressed gratitude to the parents, teachers and mentors of the winners, and wished the Olympiad participants new achievements both in studies and in life.
