OREANDA-NEWS Russia is proud of the success of agriculture, which allowed the country to move from the category of "absolute importer" to the status of the world's largest wheat exporter, President Vladimir Putin said during talks with the head of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The words of the head of state are quoted by TASS.

"We in Russia are proud of what we have done over the past eight or ten years in the field of agriculture," Putin said.

According to him, "it is pleasant to say and it is pleasant to repeat" that Russia, which exported record volumes of grain (59.3 million tons) in the agricultural season of 2022/23, plans to supply at least 60 million tons of grain to the world food markets this year.

Earlier, France recognized that Russia, against the background of a high wheat harvest for the second year in a row, "will continue to dominate the grain market despite uncertainty about the risks to shipping in the Black Sea."
