OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on ratification of the agreement with the Chinese government on cooperation in the field of creating an International Scientific Lunar Station (ISS). The document is published on the legal information portal.

It was signed in Moscow and Beijing on November 25, 2022 to create an organizational and legal framework for cooperation in the creation and operation of a station for the exploration and use of the Moon for peaceful purposes. The agreement defines the areas and forms of cooperation, the financing procedure, fixes a phased plan for the implementation of the project, regulates tax and customs issues, export control issues, and also establishes a dispute resolution mechanism in case of disagreement between the parties.

The document pays special attention to the effective protection of intellectual property obtained as a result of joint activities, the procedure for handling confidential information, as well as the legal and physical protection of the property of the party located within the framework of the agreement on the territory of another state.

In addition, the agreement establishes the principle of mutual refusal to submit claims for liability and compensation for damage caused as a result of the activities provided for in this document. At the same time, it is clarified that this principle does not apply to cases where the damage was caused by deliberate unlawful actions or actions committed through gross negligence.
