OREANDA-NEWS The growth of the minimum wage in the Russian Federation should outpace inflation in 2023. Such an order was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Kremlin website on Friday. "The Government of the Russian Federation should ensure an increase in the minimum wage in 2023 ahead of the growth rate of inflation and the growth of the average monthly wage in the country in 2023 and submit proposals for further increase in the minimum wage," the report says. A report on this issue should be submitted by July 1, 2023.

The instruction was given following a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects held on December 15, 2022.

The minimum wage from January 1, 2023 was indexed by 6.3% and became 16,242 rubles. Over the year, this figure increased by more than 2 thousand rubles (at the beginning of 2022, the minimum wage was 13,890 rubles).
