OREANDA-NEWS   Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the leaders of Turkey and Syria, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad, in connection with the powerful earthquake that killed several hundred people and injured several thousand. The Russian leader assured that Moscow is ready to provide Ankara and Damascus with all necessary assistance. "Dear Mr. President, please accept my deep condolences over the numerous human casualties and large-scale destruction caused by a powerful earthquake in your country," reads the telegram of condolences to the President of Turkey, published on the Kremlin website on Monday.

Putin asked Erdogan to convey words of sincere sympathy and support to the relatives and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured as a result of the rampant elements. "We are ready to provide the necessary assistance in this regard," he assured.

In a telegram to the Syrian president, Putin also expressed "the most sincere condolences in connection with the tragic consequences of the earthquake that occurred in the northern regions of Syria." "We share the sadness and pain of those who lost their loved ones, we hope for the speedy recovery of all the victims and are ready to provide the necessary assistance in eliminating the consequences of this natural disaster," the head of the Russian state added.
