OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which the procedure for interaction of state bodies with Russian citizens who have a passport of Ukraine is approved. The document is published on the official portal of legal information.

Earlier, the State Duma adopted a law according to which people with Russian citizenship who renounced Ukrainian citizenship should not perform actions related to the exercise of rights and performance of duties provided for citizens of Ukraine. Vladimir Putin's decree clarifies the procedure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in case of violation of the requirement.

If the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reveal a violation of the requirements, the data about it will be sent to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After that, the body that accepted the application for unwillingness to be a citizen of Ukraine will begin checking.

"If, as a result of the audit, the fact of non—compliance with the established obligation is not confirmed, including if the deadline for conducting the audit has expired, but the data collected is insufficient to confirm the fact of non-compliance with the established obligation, the audit is terminated by the decision of the official who made the decision to conduct it," the text of the document says.

In March 2023, the State Duma adopted a bill that would allow the citizenship of Ukraine to be considered terminated from the date of filing an application for withdrawal from it to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The document provides for the termination of citizenship for those who already have a Russian passport.
