OREANDA-NEWS  Russia provides 75 percent of its own vital and essential medicines. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, writes TASS.

He recalled that in the Soviet Union, not all drugs were domestic, some of them were imported from the countries of the social community. "Now we have to do it all by ourselves. By the way, we are doing this, or at least we are striving for it," the head of state said.

He stressed that Russia produces 75 percent of vital medicines on its own, but this is not enough. Putin called the provision of medicines the most important task related to health and life expectancy.

Earlier, Putin signed a law that simplifies the registration of drugs for rare diseases in Russia.
