OREANDA-NEWS The Russian Export Center, a part of VEB.RF, is prepared to assist in the process of supplying Russian agricultural machinery to the agricultural sector in the Nigerian state of Najer, as stated by Nikita Gusakov, Senior Vice President of the REC, during a meeting with the Governor of Najer State, Mohammed Umaru Bago.

The REC hosted a meeting with a delegation from Nigeria during the official visit to Russia of the Governor of the state of Niger Umaru Bago. The meeting was organized with the support of the Russian Trade Mission in Nigeria and was attended by representatives of VEB. The Russian Federation, the Rosspetsmash Association, the Rostselmash Combine Plant, and the Tractor Plants Concern.

The Russian and Nigerian parties discussed the potential for supplying agricultural equipment using the financial instruments available through the REC Group and VEB.

The Russian Federation is part of a government-backed initiative aimed at expanding crop production and enhancing food security.

The first phase of the program involves cultivating up to 30,000 hectares for a variety of agricultural products, including soybeans, corn, sesame, and cotton. These crops could potentially be exported to Nigeria and attract interest from Russian traders.

"The project to develop the agricultural sector in Niger is of great interest to the Russian side, which is ready to offer a wide selection of agricultural machinery. The successful implementation of this project will strengthen trade and economic ties between Russia and Nigeria," Gusakov said.
