OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, farms of all categories (agricultural organizations, farmers, personal subsidiary farms) produced 16.9 million tons of livestock and poultry (in live weight, for slaughter) in 2024, which is 2.1% more than in 2023, according to Rosstat.
The dairy industry increased milk production by 0.8%, to 34.1 million tons. Egg production decreased by 0.3% to 46.5 billion eggs.
The number of cattle in farms of all categories decreased by 4.1%, to 16.4 million heads, including cows - by 3.8%, to 7.3 million heads. The number of pigs decreased by 1.6%, to 27.8 million heads, sheep and goats - by 5.2%, to 19.2 million heads, poultry - increased by 2.2%, to 556 million heads.
According to Rosstat, the production of livestock and poultry in agricultural enterprises in 2024 amounted to 13.8 million tons (3.3% more), milk - 20.7 million tons (3.1% more), eggs - 38.6 billion pieces (0.4% more).
The number of cattle in agricultural organizations decreased by 4.3%, to 7.5 million heads, including cows - by 3.7%, to 3 million heads. The number of pigs decreased by 1%, to 26.2 million heads, sheep and goats - by 11.2%, to 2.8 million heads, poultry - increased by 3.3%, to 480.8 million heads.
Farms and individual entrepreneurs produced 0.6 million tons of livestock and poultry last year, which is 1.3% more than in 2023. They reduced milk production by 2.5%, to 2.9 million tons, and eggs by 1.7%, to 0.6 billion units.
The number of cattle in this sector decreased by 4.3%, to 2.8 million heads, including cows - by 4.7%, to 1.4 million heads. The number of pigs decreased by 10.3%, to 0.2 million heads, sheep and goats - by 3.2%, to 7.9 million heads, poultry - increased by 2.4%, to 9.3 million heads.
Personal subsidiary farms of the population raised 2.5 million tons of livestock and poultry, which is 3.5% less than a year earlier. Milk yields decreased by 2.6%, to 10.4 million tons, egg production - by 3.5%, to 7.3 billion units.
The number of cattle in private subsidiary farms decreased by 3.7%, to 6.1 million heads, including cows - by 3.4%, to 2.8 million heads. The number of pigs decreased by 9%, to 1.5 million heads, sheep and goats - by 5%, to 8.6 million heads, poultry - by 5.1%, to 65.9 million heads.
Rosstat notes that these figures do not take into account statistics for four new regions.
