OREANDA-NEWS  Last year Rostelecom increased investments in domestic software up to 90%. Moreover, 70% of this software is included in the register of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the press service of the national provider told Kavkaz Post. The company invests not only in ready-to–market IT products, but also creates its own - in the field of cybersecurity, telecommunications, cloud technologies, virtualization, biometrics, video surveillance, data management, artificial intelligence, digital medicine, as well as government digital services. According to the import substitution strategy, Rostelecom is switching to solutions from domestic vendors. T

he company's telecommunications business is based on Russian developments. In addition, in the period from 2018 to 2022, projects were implemented for testing and implementing products of Russian developers in the areas of server and client operating systems, DBMS (database management systems), virtualization platforms (VDC, VDI), office packages, backup tools. Kirill Menshov, Senior Vice President for Information Technologies at Rostelecom, noted that the company is working to resolve the issue of import substitution not only for itself, but also for all major sectors of the Russian economy. "The company is developing technologies that help solve similar problems for a wide range of corporate and government customers," Kirill Menshov said. Development is proceeding in two priority directions.

The first is to solve the issue of import substitution, as well as to introduce universal software. To do this, we need to work with the IT community and the market to create demand for domestic solutions, as well as support the development of vendors. The second direction is critical business processes that form the basis of a value proposition to customers. Here Rostelecom is gradually increasing its own expertise and moving from using ready-made software solutions to its own development. As a result, the company's sustainability and customer value increases. The register of Russian software, which is maintained by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, today includes more than 200 IT products of Rostelecom.

These products are used both internally and to work with external clients. Only this year, solutions were included in the register to cover the needs of both Rostelecom and the entire telecom industry. Among them are the CRM system for the work of the mass segment, the Gaming Platform, the Sparta network development planning platform, the Showcase of Domestic IT Products, the RT.Activator service provision and activation platform, the Atomaro design system, a cloud video surveillance platform, a desktop video surveillance application, a secure repository "Phoenix" and so on. "We are implementing many software development and implementation projects, thanks to which Rostelecom is gaining significant experience and expertise in this area. For example, in the near future we will release our own project management platform “Yaga”, which can completely replace the Jira and Confluence that have left the Russian market. In fact, the solution is the core of our modular platform for implementing the full lifecycle of secure development. We will also continue to invest in domestic software for the development of the Russian IT market," said Darius Khalitov, Vice President for Information Systems Development at Rostelecom. In order to implement the import substitution program, Rostelecom has created its own competence centers. The results are already noticeable: the company has significantly reduced its dependence on foreign software and equipment.
