OREANDA-NEWS  Russian agencies have completed work on a comprehensive plan for bilateral cooperation with Vietnam until 2030, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

"This is a voluminous and concrete document containing a number of industry roadmaps, which contain specific targets. We will hand it over to the Vietnamese side in the near future. We look forward to constructive and prompt consideration," he said at a meeting with Vietnam's Deputy Defense Minister Hoang Xuan Tien on Thursday.

Chernyshenko expressed Russia's interest in cooperation in a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, science and technology, education and culture. He also stated that it is critically important to start implementing the decisions of the Russian-Vietnamese intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation as soon as possible.

According to him, the Russian side highly appreciates the activities of the joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Center, whose 35th anniversary was recently celebrated in Hanoi. According to Chernyshenko, the adoption of the strategy for the development of the Tropical Center until 2030 will give a new impetus to its development. A new program of research and technological work for 2025-2029, including the introduction of artificial intelligence algorithms, should become the basis for the implementation of the strategy's provisions.

In turn, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Vietnam said that Hanoi is committed to developing cooperation with Moscow, including in the field of defense. "Vietnam will always be with you under any conditions," Hoang Xuan Tien said.

According to him, Moscow and Hanoi have agreed on further measures to promote defense cooperation. He said that on Thursday he discussed with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu "how to push defense cooperation," which is included in the five key areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnam's Deputy Defense Minister is going to hold a series of meetings with representatives of the Russian Federation on Friday to discuss plans for the development of the Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Center. "We will discuss the areas of research that both sides want to promote. For example, how to increase the wear resistance of weapons and equipment that we purchased from the USSR and the Russian Federation, as well as health issues for submariners, military pilots and soldiers who work in difficult conditions," the Vietnamese official said.

"Cooperation within the framework of the Tropical Center is considered a symbol of our cooperation, which has existed since the USSR. (...) The meeting tomorrow will be very important, because we will discuss and specify the main measures for the development of the Tropical Center. (...) In particular, we will discuss the strategy for the development of the Tropical Center for the period up to 2030 and beyond," Hoang Xuan Tien said.

He also invited Chernyshenko to visit Vietnam again.
