OREANDA-NEWS  The stated deadlines for the construction and modernization of checkpoints on the border with China will not be able to withstand, they will be moved on average for one year. This is stated in a letter sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade a month ago by the Ministry of Transport on the capacity of border crossings, which is referred to by Vedomosti.

Due to the transfer, the main part of the passes will be put into operation in three to four years, only the Markovo International automobile checkpoint (MAPP) will be able to be upgraded by the fourth quarter of next year. Although in his case, it was assumed that the work would be completed by the beginning of 2023.

What is the essence of the problems that arose during modernization and construction, which required transfers, is not indicated in the material. Whether this is mentioned in the letter is also unknown.

Director of "PEC:Global" Oksana Feoktistova noted that if the capacity of checkpoints does not change in 2023, the level of congestion at the border will only increase, and this is fraught with additional costs for companies and consumers. Artyom Lylyk, CEO of Asia Import Group, noted that this December, carriers are stuck in traffic for up to a month at road checkpoints.

Arkady Ivanov, Development Director of TransAsia Logistics, estimated one day of vehicle downtime at five to seven thousand rubles. Vadim Izmailov, Director of the Department of Motor Transport at STS Logistics, explained that it would be possible to do without congestion if the capacity of the MAPP at the Chinese border increased nine times.
