OREANDA-NEWS  Suspects or accused of crimes in Russia will not be issued a license to purchase weapons from March 30.

The relevant federal law of December 29, 2022 "On Amendments to the Federal Law "On Weapons" and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation" has entered into force. A license to purchase, exhibit or collect weapons is not issued to citizens of the Russian Federation "suspected or accused of committing an intentional crime."

The law also prohibits the issuance of licenses for weapons released by the court from criminal liability for committing a crime with the imposition of a court fine or on grounds that do not give the right to rehabilitation before the expiration of two years after the entry into force of the relevant court decision.
The basis for refusal to issue a license is also considered to be the conclusion that there is a danger of violation of the rights and freedoms of citizens, a threat to state or public security based on the results of an inspection by the police and (or) the FSB.
