OREANDA-NEWS  From the beginning of this agricultural season (lasts from July 1, 2023 to June 30) to March 2024, the total volume of wheat exports from Russia increased by 11 percent and reached the level of 40.85 million tons. This is reported by TASS with reference to statistical data from Rusagrotrans analysts.

Experts clarified that the achieved figure has become a record. For comparison, during the same period of the last agricultural season, Russian farmers sent a total of 36.65 million tons abroad. Thus, the current result was 4.2 million higher.

Analysts added that by the end of March 2024, 4.6 million tons of wheat were exported from the country. Experts expect a similar figure in April. In general, according to the results of this agricultural season, the total volume of wheat exports may amount to 53 million tons, although the previous forecast implied 52.5 million.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture announced its intention to double the total area of crops for durum wheat in Russia in 2024. In 2023, the indicator was estimated at 500 thousand hectares. This year, they want to increase the area to 1 million. This should be enough to meet the needs of both the domestic market and foreign buyers of Russian wheat.
