OREANDA-NEWS  The European Union will not be able to prevent the circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions, says Nikolai Arefyev, First Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy. In conversation he reacted to plans to introduce new restrictions due to the start of a special military operation (SVO) on the territory of Ukraine.

According to the Vice-president of the European Commission (EC) Valdis Dombrovskis, the tenth package will include new restrictions. It will also be aimed at combating circumvention of sanctions. According to Nikolai Arefyev, this will not give results.

"This struggle is significant for Russia, but it will be unsuccessful. The fact is that politicians are on their own, and business is on its own. Whatever the policy in Russia and between states, it is impossible for businesses to stop trading. Business will find any workarounds in order not to lose the ties that have already been established with Russia. After all, we found a way out of the situation when many foreign companies left us, but many of them sold the business, it now operates under a different brand today," he said.
