OREANDA-NEWS President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Kherson is PR and an attempt to distract attention from failures at the front. This was stated by Konstantin Basyuk, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, quoted by RIA Novosti.

"All this is an attempt to divert attention from corruption scandals and the Ukrainian Armed Forces disaster [The Armed Forces of Ukraine — approx. "The tapes.ru"] at the front... And, of course, PR, to show your Western curators at least some kind of help," he said.

According to the senator, Zelensky's words about building up the defense of Kherson are more like convulsions. The politician also recalled the mass desertion in Ukraine.

Earlier, Zelensky published a video message against the background of a stele at the entrance to the city. He noted that he had held a meeting in Kherson, which was attended by those responsible for the security of the city. Zelensky also said that he had instructed the elite brigade of drone operators of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Ptakhi Magyara" to expand the defensive capabilities of Kherson.
