OREANDA-NEWS  Serial production of the Drill planning aerial bomb for the purposes of a special military operation (SVO) will begin in 2024. This was reported to TASS by Rostec State Corporation.

The company clarified that the weapon has passed all the tests determined by the customer, and currently a line of combat units is being developed for it. "Information about the use of products in the CBO zone is closed. In 2024, it is planned to manufacture the first serial batch of an air bomb," the state corporation said.

In June 2021, in the publication of the American magazine The National Interest, the Drill planning bomb was recognized as a new Russian superweapon that would be "ideal when used against a moving enemy."

According to the publication, the product will be a cluster gliding low-visibility bomb controlled by the global navigation satellite system GLONASS. Its weight will exceed 500 kilograms. The range is from 30 to 50 kilometers. Each "Drill" will contain 15 homing combat elements and be equipped with a "friend-foe" identification system and electronic countermeasures.
