OREANDA-NEWS Against the background of a shortage of personnel, Russian Railways is considering the possibility of employing foreign citizens and those sentenced to forced labor. This was stated during the forum "Transport of Russia" by Deputy Director General of Russian Railways Dmitry Shakhanov.

According to him, now the entire Russian industry and all companies have to work in unprecedented conditions. "You can't call these processes anything other than personnel starvation," Shakhanov stressed, adding that there is no free staff on the market, and the priority for personnel departments is to attract personnel.

The reasons for the shortage of labor, in his opinion, lie in demography and the active development of industry, including defense. The top manager stressed that the situation leads to a "race" of wages. "There is really a "race" of wages. This process, of course, needs to be stopped, and at the state level," he believes.

To attract and retain employees, Russian Railways uses such methods as changing the corporate culture, increasing wages, efficiency of recruitment and training of personnel, improving social support, Shakhanov explained.
