Russians began to eat a record amount of meat

OREANDA-NEWS Russians increased their meat consumption at a record pace last year. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to statistical data.
The consumption of meat and meat products in the country in 2025 exceeded the mark of 100 kilograms on average per person per year, the publication says. This figure reached 100.7 kilograms, which became a new historical maximum. A year earlier, the indicator was at the level of 99.9 kilograms.
Citizens, in particular, began to eat more poultry meat: 26.4 kilograms in 2025 against 25.3 kilograms in 2024. For beef and veal, the figures remained almost unchanged: 9.3 kilograms against 9.4 a year earlier.
The demand for pork decreased slightly last year: it amounted to 17.1 kilograms against 17.4 kilograms per person in the same period of 2024. Sausages and sausages have also seen a slight decline.
Earlier it became known that Russia has increased the supply of frozen beef to China by 1.4 times in value terms. In the first half of 2026, China paid 68.7 million dollars for this product. Brazil supplied even more meat to China: for a total of 5.1 billion dollars over the same period. Shipments from Australia and Argentina were also significant.
