OREANDA-NEWS Russians have begun to lose interest in traveling around their homeland — the demand for tours for the upcoming summer season is decreasing by 4.8 percent. Ilya Umansky, President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), told about this in an interview with NSN.
According to the expert, in 2026, tour operators note a "cooling in domestic tourism," while the past summer season showed an increase of 9 percent. "These data make us think and continue working to stimulate and restore demand. The trend is not the most positive for us," Umansky said.
The PCT representative stressed that these indicators are a natural correction after several years of rapid growth. So, in 2023, the tourism industry recorded a twofold increase in interest in domestic resorts, in 2024 the market grew by more than 15 percent, but last year ended with figures in the range of 5 percent. At the same time, 70 percent of Russians plan a summer vacation in the country.
Earlier, tour operators complained about the low demand for holidays in Russia against the background of the strengthening ruble. According to Umansky, the demand for holidays in the country in 2026 is falling due to the lack of high-quality supply on the market.
