Russians have been denied visas to Greece more often.

OREANDA-NEWS Russia noted the deterioration of the situation with the issuance of Schengen visas to Greece in the summer of 2026. This was reported in the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
It is clarified that applicants, including those with confirmed tours, have become more likely to be refused. ATOR added that the statistics of companies vary markedly — for some, the failure rate has increased to about 2-2.5 percent, while for others — up to 50 percent. At the same time, for independent tourists who confirm their trip with armor from aggregators or contact intermediaries, this figure can reach 70 percent.
Another problem was the increase in the time for reviewing applications — instead of two to three weeks, the process now takes up to one and a half months. In this regard, tour operators recommended that Russians take out travel insurance to cover visa risks and confirm their financial viability in as much detail as possible.
Earlier, representatives of the research organization Institute of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (INSETE) reported that the absence of tourists from Russia affected this European country. Northern Greece was the hardest hit, including Thessaloniki and Halkidiki.
