OREANDA-NEWS In 2024, Russians filed thousands of complaints to the authorities and public organizations about illegal and spontaneous landfills. So, only about 1.5 thousand relevant appeals were received by President Vladimir Putin's direct line in 2024, the People's Front told Izvestia.
According to the information of the public movement, residents of all regions of the country complain about illegal landfills. The Popular Front noted that citizens usually report piles of garbage on river banks, on settlement streets and on private territories. There are facilities that, thanks to the efforts of the authorities and volunteers, were cleaned several times, but after a while the landfill reappeared there, the NF added.
In the village of Baturinsky in the Yemanzhelinsky district of the Chelyabinsk region in 2023, activists called for access to an unauthorized landfill of several dozen hectares with piles of household waste, boards, and car tires to be closed. The situation was taken over by the head of the Chelyabinsk region, but in January 2025, activists discovered that the entrances to the illegal landfill had not been blocked and the volume of waste on it continued to grow.
