OREANDA-NEWS Vice Prime Minister on Digitalization, Maxim Akimov, approved the concept of an electronic passport for all Russians.

The citizens of Russia will have two versions of the passport: in the form of a chip card and an electronic one - as an application, reports FederalPress.

The application will contain an electronic copy of passport data. Both versions of the document will be equivalent. All innovations are spelled out in a special concept, which was developed by experts of the Research Institute "Voskhod" and the State Sign.

It is planned that the Russians will receive new passports from 2020, and the release of today's paper passports will cease from 2023. According to the authors of the project, the full transition to the new passport data carriers will be completed by December 2028.
