OREANDA-NEWS  In 2025, mackerel imports to Russia increased by two percent in physical terms and by 14 percent in monetary terms. These data from the Fish Union were quoted by TASS.

Overall, shipments have grown to 70,000 tons and are estimated at $160 million. In particular, China increased sales of Pacific mackerel to the Russian market by 57 percent, to 20,000 tons. Imports of Atlantic mackerel from Morocco jumped 2.6 times, to six thousand tons. In turn, Chile increased supplies to three thousand tons, thus increasing them sevenfold.

At the same time, imports of Atlantic mackerel from the Faroe Islands decreased by 25 percent, to 35 thousand tons. Shipments of Pacific mackerel from South Korea fell by nine percent, to five thousand tons.

According to the All-Russian Association of Fisheries Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters, Russians prefer herring among all types of fish. In addition, cod, mackerel and pollock were on the list of the most sought-after species.
